how it started
I moved to Paris on a whim in 2016 before remote work was mainstream. What was supposed to be a three month adventure turned into an almost four year stay. If it wasn’t for the covid-19 pandemic, I probably would have still been living there, or at least splitting my time between the US and France.
I started this blog (formerly américanpig) to cope with all the struggles of expat life and living in another country, while maintaining true to yourself. It was a survival guide to Paris that promoted living the French lifestyle with the American spirit by accepting and celebrating our differences vs. conforming to archaic societal rules.
how it’s going
Since I am back in NYC for the moment, I decided to shift gears. AP will always be a part of me and always in my heart, but I feel that I am in a place where I and this site have evolved into a new space and mindset. Interacting with so many of you on and offline, I wanted to create something that was more inclusive, showing life through my eyes and how I am experiencing in the current moment. And so the name, “Wanderwoman Diaries” came into being.
I will still continue to do features of women living around the world and international travel posts, but will now also be doing posts focused on beauty, wellness, mindfulness, fashion and travel. Make sure to check out my new section “LISTS” for those who want the info, without all the words, plus “City Diaries” for the local spots loved by my fabulous wanderwomen!
I hope you all enjoy seeing and reading life #throughmyeyes and as always, love hearing from you.
xoxo, A
