Work from anywhere: The Paris Fall/Winter Edit
For those of you who follow my instagram, what I post is only a percentage of my life. When I’m not on the gram, you can usually find me behind my laptop working. I mostly work from my apartment, but some days I need a change of scenery. I mean, this is Paris after all! Here are my favorite three places to work from anywhere when I’m in Paris.
Voyage
WHY
Because where better to glean inspiration from a building filled with designers
WHERE
Top floor of Samaritaine at 9 R. de la Monnaie, 75001 Paris
WHAT
Voyage is a restaurant that takes up the entire floor of this luxury department store. There are many seating options from standard dining tables to comfy couchy/lounge chairs and there are three separate sections. Depending on how long I plan on staying, I may start at their more casual section, then move to their more formal dining space. The design and architecture is amazing since you are basically below their glass roof, so unlike last year’s holiday blockbuster movie, I do encourage you to look up!
WHEN
They are open from 10am to 8pm. I prefer the morning or mid afternoon hours as there are less people. It does become quite lively in the evening.
WHO
Anyone who loves large open spaces, a lively atmosphere, and shopping on their breaks. It never gets that loud, but this is technically a restaurant so don’t expect a library atmosphere. And back to the shopping, Samaritaine is my favorite department store in all of Paris, as I feel that the service is more elevated since it doesn’t attract hoards Le Bon Marche. And their designer sections and capsule sections are out of this world, well put together and easy to shop. Since you came here to work, always great to know there is some kind of reward or incentive to keep you going :)
Café Jeanne
WHY
Because hotel life is the best life, bien sûr!
WHERE
Lobby of Park Hyatt Hotel at 5 Rue de la Paix, 75002 Paris
WHAT
Café Jeanne is one of my favorite hotel lounges to work from. The vibe is cozy and my favorite spot is right in front of the fireplace. The menu changes depending on what time of day you come. You don’t need to be a hotel guest to work from here, but if not, would get more than a pot of coffee if you plan on staying a few hours. Their lunch is great and love their detox juices. Since you are in a hotel, you have multiple dining options like their michelin restaurant, Pur’ or their winter pop-up Chalet du Park on their dining terrasse.
WHEN
They are open 7am to midnight. If you are a hotel guest, you can pretty much pop down there whenever, even after hours. My favorite time to work here is in the afternoon/tea time, since there are less people.
WHO
Anyone who loves working from hotels. Vibe is upscale, yet non-pretentious
Treize au Jardin
WHY
Because sometimes I like the cafe vibe with a touch of home (aka America)
WHERE
In the middle of Saint Germain, close to Jardin Luxembourg at 5 Rue de Médicis, 75006 Paris
WHAT
Treize au jardin is a touch of home for me. The contemporary café was founded by American, Laurel Sanderson. You can order all of your comfort food cravings here. I’m enjoying the most perfect vegetarian eggs benedict and ginger grog as I type this. Seeing the emerging remote category, Lauren created two coworking formules. One is a lunch package that offers you 3 hours at the cafe and includes a main course and drink of your choice, and a lighter package that offers 2 hours and a pastry and beverage. Both include wifi, and if you need anything printed, they can do so at an extra charge.
WHEN
Treize au jardin is open daily from 11:30 to 5:30. The second co-working option is only available after prime lunch hour, so 2pm on. I honestly prefer the lunch because their food is so good and fresh. And even if I don’t stay the full 3 hours, it is totally worth it for me.
WHO
Anyone who loves working from a café without having to think about it. I don’t do coworking spaces because they are just so unrelaxing and sterile. Treize gives you the café vibe, with all the co-working amenities, plus gourmet fresh food and a SWEET playlist. Seriously, i normally hate music at places, but the music here is totally conducive from getting work done and bopping while you do.
