Paris Christmas Markets: Which One's For You?
The holidays are one of the prettiest times in Paris. The whole city is lit up with joy and holiday cheer despite the protests that are happening every Saturday. Whether you are a local or just visiting, one of the things not to miss are the Christmas Markets. With the Champs Elysées Market no longer, we have scouted the 2 main markets in Paris to see which one is for you. I mean, with only 6 days a week to shop (thanks Gilets Jaunes), you need an effective shopping strategy!

WHAT
The new “Champs Elysées” Christmas Market. We were very eager to check this out as it is supposed to take the place of what was the Champs Elysées Christmas Market. Although it was in a picturesque and central location, it was much smaller than the market from yesteryears.
There is shopping, but not the same range of shopping that existed at the Champs. The food selection is exceptional, so if your thing is eating at a Christmas Market, this definitely is for you! They offer covered seated eating options or if you prefer to eat while you browse with a mulled wine in hand, you can do that too. From bratwurst, to a french onion soup stand, to superior oysters, this fair has really got you covered.
WHO
In addition to those who plan on eating their way through the market, this is a definite MUST if you have children. The amount of rides and games, along with sweet treats will take any child to 7th Heaven. Some rides are even adult friendly so this fair is designed for the kid at heart…and I will be having a date with the Boules de Nöel before this season is over!

A very international Christmas Market. Here you will find vendors from all around the world. The shopping here is hands down much better than the Tuileries Market both in number of booths and selection. From artisanal jewelry, to homemade knits and even electronics, they really have something for everyone on your Christmas List. So, if you are looking to do some Christmas shopping, this is the market for you! The local food market stalls really did win us over and was one of our favorites of this market.
For us, the food selection for actual dining is not up to par with the other market. There are some stands and covered spots but not to the same level as the food available at the Tuileries.

If you love shopping, mulled wine and tasting international delicacies that you can also take home, make sure not to miss this market. Most of my purchases were food and wine products because they were THAT good and I LOVE buying local and supporting small businesses!
