Travel Bag Musts: Beauty & Wellness
Here in France, getting out of Paris for le weekend or just for the hell of it is a must. No matter how long or short my trip is, these are the products I cannot live without.
SKINCARE MUSTS
Wherever I go, there are three things I cannot live without that are hard to find in stores when I’m traveling. Let’s start off with cleanser. As some of you know I hardly wash my face with water unless I do a facial scrub in the shower. All other times, I use some sort of facial water. My new drug of choice since January 2020 is Son & Park Beauty Water. It was one of my finds in my last IRL beauty shopping trips South Korea and I have been in love ever since! It not only cleanses the skin, but also does a slight exfoliation, which is needed especially with our everchanging weather conditions! I love the scent because it is floral and fresh, which relaxes me and puts me in my happy place. Luckily it is available through Amazon.
My newest skincare addition is the SSauce from The Beauty Sandwich. I know it is still hard to get your hands on one of these miracle bottles but when you do you will know what I’m talking about. I use it both morning and evening and honestly can’t live without it.
Though I also use moisturizer with SPF, I have graduated to serious suncare as the sun is much stronger and hotter than Hades these days. I use the Supergoop! Glow Stick on my face and their everyday lotion DAILY. The days I don’t, I regret it. They are both SPF 50, but with the suns rays lately, I don’t use anything less.
HAIRCARE ON THE GO
My other find from my Soko shopping spree is the Mise en scène perfect serum. I always get a blowout before a trip just because it is easier for me. After a day or two my hair gets dry, especially during warmer weather. This gives my tresses the refresh it needs and is not heavy or oily like so many other hair products.
If I’m going away for more than two days, I love the B&B Pret a Powder nourishing dry shampoo. This has truly been a lifesaver on all of my trips. It honestly kept my NYC blowout strong for 10 days!!! I love the spray, but also use the powder on occasion—you really can’t go wrong.
Since it is summer season, my newest addition is the After-Sun Protective Elixir from OWAY. This mist is great for everyday use and protects your hair from dangerous UV rays. My hair has definitely been much softer and shinier since using it. If you can’t find it online, you can get it at ARCO NY, either in salon, or online.
DON’T FORGET YOUR PEARLY WHITES
One thing we are all guilty of forgetting about (present company included) is our teeth. We all think it is fine, till it’s not. As someone who has experienced this the hard way, pay attention to any sensitivity you may feel before it erupts into something else.
For dental care and preventative care, I highly recommend investing in a waterflosser. I have a main one at home, but purchased this one for my trip and I think it works better than my main model! My pick is the cordless travel flosser from Waterpik because it is lightweight and battery powered do you don’t need to worry about voltage issues between countries.
My other must is a charcoal toothpaste to take away the coffee stains from my teeth. For whatever reason, this only happens to me in Europe. I picked this up Oral B 3D Whitening Therapy with charcoal at a monoprix, and it is a Godsend! I plan on filling up my suitcase with this in case i cannot find it back home.
MY CREATURE COMFORTS
I bring my vitamin supplements with me when I travel (thanks covid). I alway pump myself with vitamin C, D and zinc when I arrive to my destination especially now that most travel is maskless. I know most people will cringe at this but I never travel without my Emergen-C or Cold-eeze. If you plan on coming to the EU seems like they are in the midst of another wave, so make sure to bring some sort of super supplement as masking does not exist here.
The other two things I cannot live without, especially when traveling to France is Viviscal and my Vital Proteins collagen. If you have read my hair blog, you know why.
And of course, I can never have enough of when I travel is bottled water. I drink A LOT of water. Instead of lugging bottles of water of me to my destination, I pre-order a case and have it shipped to me at my destination or have the concierge pick it up prior to my arrival. I know… total princess move, but water is the first thing I crave after long travel. I don’t drink much in transit as I try to avoid public restrooms when possible.
MY TRAVEL SPA
My absolute new favorite travel tech bestie is my infrared face mask from Higher Dose. Not only is it light weight and comes with any travel adaptor you can think of, but it truly works wonders. I returned from beach weekend in Biarritz and somehow my skin was looking dull earlier this week despite our overcast weather, but now am feeling back to normal after just two ten minute sessions. This is definitely a keeper!
